The shape is what the room sees from the door. The face is what you see from the pillow, every night.

Fluted
Full-height channels, each one its own soft column. Shadow falls between them, so a wide board never looks flat.
03 — Black velvet · crystal buttons
Crystal
Deep buttoning finished in crystal. It catches every lamp in the room.
04 — Blue · chevron stitch
Chevron
A chevron stitched over deep foam. Plain from the door, detailed from the pillow.
05 — Navy velvet · studded border
Buttoned
Deep buttons pull the face into soft folds, and the folds hold the shadow.

04 — Fixing
Bed, wall or floor?
Most boards fix to the bed. Tell us your wall and we’ll say what we’d recommend. As a guide, a headboard is usually held up one of these ways:

Fixed to the bed
Bolts to the bed frame, moves when the bed moves.

Hung on the wall
Cleated to the wall; the bed slides out for cleaning.

Floor-standing
Legs to the floor, held in place by the bed.
A photo of the wall behind your bed usually settles it.
05 — Cost
What moves the price.
No price list, because nothing here is standard. Five things decide what yours costs — tell us those, and we’ll quote it. Quotes are free.
- Size
- The single biggest one. A wall-width board is not a queen board with more cloth — the frame has to be built differently to stay flat.
- Material
- Cloth is priced by the metre, and a figured or specialty cloth can cost several times a plain one.
- The face
- Buttons, flutes and stitched patterns are hand work, not a finish applied at the end.
- Fixing
- Most boards fix to the bed. Tell us your wall and we'll say what we'd recommend.
- Delivery
- A very tall board may not turn a stairwell in one piece. Tell us about the stairs when you send the brief.
