01 — What we do

Why it will sit better than new.

Three layers go back in, in this order. Cheat the bottom one and you feel it by winter.

Where a joint has let go, it is taken apart and re-glued, so the frame is sound before anything goes back on it.

Tired webbing, springs and foam are replaced where they need it — a fresh pad over a collapsed one just collapses again. We’ll tell you what yours needs.

The cloth you chose, cut and fitted to your piece. A large pattern has to be placed, so ask how much extra cloth it takes.

02 — Straight answers

Is it worth doing?

Most pieces fall into one of these three. Send a photo and ask which one yours is.

  1. Almost always

    Yes. Do it.

    Hardwood, cut joints, good lines. A loose frame and a tired cover are ordinary work with an end you can picture.

  2. Ask us first

    Tell us about it.

    Stapled softwood, or a piece patched three times already. If you love it, say so — that changes the answer.

  3. Think twice

    It may not be worth it.

    No sound timber left to hold a screw. A repair has nothing to hold on to, so a new piece may be the better buy.

What moves the price

What the frame needs, how much of the inside is replaced, and how much cloth a big pattern takes to match across a seam. Once the design is confirmed, you get a quote and a timeframe for completion.

03 — Character

Pick the cloth you actually want.

Botanical print. Hydrangea blue. Cartoon cloth on a child’s chair. A sound frame carries all of it — so skip the safe beige.

04 — What to send

Three photos. That is the whole ask.

  1. The whole piece, straight on

    Pull it clear of the wall, stand back, square to the front.

  2. Whatever bothers you most

    The bald arm, the split rail, the seat you sink into. Close enough to fill the frame.

  3. The underside, if something broke

    Tip it gently onto something soft. Webbing, blocks and old repairs all show down there.

Please do not tidy or cover the piece before you photograph it. The worn patches are the part that tells us what needs doing.

Daylight, not flash. Your phone is fine.
